DAVINA S. KOTULSKI, PH.D., is a clinical psychologist, sought after speaker, and award-winning, best-selling author with a thriving private therapy practice and an international life coaching practice.
Dr. Davina Kotulski has helped clients move through fear, self-doubt, transition, creative blocks, grief, loss and trauma to become resilient, empowered and successful individuals.
Dr. Kotulski graduated from the California School of Professional Psychology (Alameda-CA) in 1996 with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. She worked for over thirteen years as a psychologist in prison settings, first with male inmates for the California Department of Corrections and then with female inmates at the Federal Correctional Institution in California. The focus of her work was helping inmates recover from addiction and trauma, build self-esteem and pro-social values, and find their positive passion for life. She has presented at the Association of Women in Psychology Annual Conference and the American Society of Corrections Conference.
Dr. Kotulski has consulted with universities, residential treatment centers with high risk adolescents, rape trauma centers, and the Anthony Robbins Foundation Prison Summit. Davina was an adjunct professor of psychology and counseling at Holy Names Names University, John F. Kennedy University, the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University and New College of San Francisco.
Separate from her psychotherapy work, Davina facilitates workshops and webinars on resilience, self-empowerment, and authentic self-expression.
Her newest self-help book The Manna Paradigm Shift: Creating the Consciousness of Abundance was released in 2021. Her first self-help book It’s Never Too Late to Be Your Self: Follow Your Inner Compass and Take Back Your Life is now an award-winning audiobook, ebook and paperback.
She’s also the author of Why You Should Give a Damn About Gay Marriage , Love Warriors: The rise of the marriage equality movement and why it will prevail and Behind Barbed Eyes. She created the How to Come Out Of the Closet and Into Your Power audio programs addressing coming out and living an authentic life.
Davina Kotulski was at the forefront of the LGBTQ marriage equality movement and appeared in dozens of documentaries, Newsweek magazine, USA Today, CNN, the San Francisco Chronicle, L.A. Times, and international news channels. Davina shared the stage with comedian Margaret Cho, civil rights leader Dolores Huerta, and celebrities Cloris Leachman, Dustin Lance Black, and Armistead Maupin. Dr. Davina received numerous awards for marriage equality leadership including; the Saints Alive Award and San Francisco LGBT Pride Community Grand Marshal.
Dr. Davina identifies as non-binary, LGBTQ and uses the pronouns she or they and hers or theirs. D.Davina has had to live with binary designators for most of their life and is happy to finally have a choice. That being said, Dr. Davina offers you to use the pronouns that are most comfortable for you. Just don’t call Dr. Davina “maam” or “miss.”
